about

This song is a tribute to my Aunt Marsha [Hofer], who was unexpectedly taken from this world in a single-car rollover accident in the fall of 2007. After the 7th year anniversary of her death, I finally felt strong enough to accept what had happened, and was able to write her a song. Marsha was a very positive and influential person in my life. Her light shined bright in even the darkest days. I wouldn't be the woman I am today if it had not been for her companionship and guidance for the first 18 years of my life.

Lyrics and music written by Angela Lambrecht

lyrics

Seven years ago, we lost a beautiful soul.
She took a one-way ticket and got right out of here.
She taught me how to smile, how to win, and how to lose.
And don't ever let the world give you the blues.

But now I'm feelin' kinda low.
Gotta get back up and go.
Find those reasons I'm alive,
And let 'em show.

I gotta take my ups with my downs. I know I'll be alright.
I'm just sittin' here tonight, and I was thinking about you.
I throw my hands up to the sky, and I pray you'll hold me tight.
I'm just sittin' here tonight, and I was thinking about you.
I'm just thinking about you.

Some days I see the light, and feel like I can fly.
Other days, I feel like I should jump.
Sometimes I sit around and cry. I let the tears release my pain.
Flow over me. I can feel you holdin' tight.

I got caught up in a road.
But I gained a little soul.
Lost myself along the way,
So I could grow.

Now, seven years gone by still feels like yesterday.
And yesterday, I heard you call my name.
It sends shivers down my spine, but it warms my lonely heart.
Brings back tears, but I love the way it feels.

Now, I'm feelin' mighty fine.
You said to spread my wings and fly,
Because I'll always come back down.
There's no need to cry.

I gotta take my ups with my downs. I know I'll be alright.
I'm just sittin' here tonight, and I was thinking about you.
I throw my hands up to the sky, and I know you'll hold me tight.
I'm just sitting here tonight, and I was thinking about you.
I'm just thinking about you.
